The Bill Filming Locations

The first series of the Bill was broadcast in 1984 and the program continued for a total of 29 series finishing in 2010.
Despite starting in 1984 there was a precursor to the The Bill know as Woodentop which was broadcast in 1983 and focused on PC Jim Caver and WPC June Ackland both based at Sun Hill Police station. In this post we look at some of the key filming locations used during The Bill’s 26 years in production.

Sun Hill Filming Location

Over the years there have been three locations used as the location of Sun Hill. Since 1990, and for 20 years of its 26 years in production, the home of Sun Hill was on Windsor Avenue in Wimbledon, London as shown below.

Episode Locations

Filming for episodes of The Bill took place all over London, especially within the surrounding area of the studios in the London Borough of Merton. Other notable locations include the Cambridge Estate in Kingston, High Pathe Estate, South Wimbledone, Roundsaw Estate in Wallington, Alton Estate in Roehampton, as well as locations in Docklands, Greenwich and Croydon.
